Tidsskrift korrigerer etter manglende kreditering av norske forskere og Tidende

I tidsskriftet Nicotine & Tobacco Research, Volume 13, Number 8 fra august 2011 er det publisert følgende korreksjon til en artikkel om snusbruk blant studenter (1):

«Corrigendum to Larsen et al. (2011) Nicotine & Tobacco Research 13: 313 - 318. Doi: 10.1093/ntr/ntq256

It should have been made clear in this paper that the data analyzed had previously been reported in the Norwegian Dental Journal in a paper by Aastrom et al. (2007) 117: 146 - 152. The analysis of the data presented in the paper in Nicotine & Tobacco Research was new and extended the interpretation of the results. Nevertheless, the authors acknowledge that the paper in Nicotine & Tobacco Research should have referred to the fact that the data set was the same as that collected and analyzed in the paper in the Norwegian Dental Journal and this paper should have been cited. We should also have made it clear that the data were collected by Helene Læknes and Linh Bui and we should have acknowledged their contribution to the study.»

Tidendes redaksjon ble gjort oppmerksom på unnlatelsen av å vise til at grunnlagsdataene stammet fra en artikkel som først ble publisert i Tidende: Snusbruk og holdninger til snus (2) og at Helene Læknes og Linh Bui, som sto for datainnsamlingen, ikke ble kreditert. Redaktøren av Nicotine & Tobacco Research beklaget at de norske forfatterne bak artikkelen i hans tidsskrift hadde unnlatt å referere til Tidendeartikkelen, og trykket derfor korreksjonen.
