Dermed er det bare Norge og Island av de nordiske landene som ikke tar studieavgift for internasjonale studenter. Mens studentorganisasjoner har protestert mot forslaget skal universiteter og høyskoler nå ha akseptert ordningen, skriver den finske nyhetskanalen Yle. Forutsetninger er at de får anledning til selv å fastsette og kreve inn avgiftene. Totalt 15 000 studenter vil bli berørt av endringen. Blodets sammensætning reflekteres i vist omfang i spyt, spyt er let at opsamle, opbevare og transportere, opsamling kræver ikke specialuddannet personale og infektionsrisikoen er mindre end ved håndtering af blodprøver. Hos børn og patienter med nåleskræk vil det være en betydelig fordel at tage en spytprøve frem for en blodprøve. Oral mucosal lesions can also be associated with an underlying systemic disease. The correct diagnosis of mucosal lesions, which may share similar clinical and demographic features, is a challenge for a dentist and general practitioner. Diagnostics of oral mucosal lesions is based on a thorough investigation of the patient and a careful anamnesis. In addition, diagnostic tests, including biopsies and microbiologic samples, are usually required for setting a proper diagnosis. This is particularly important for early detection of premalignant lesions and oral cancer, because their prognosis is mainly dependent on the stage of the disease at the time of diagnosis. Since bacteria, fungi, and viruses are causative agents in a number of mucosal lesions and diseases, microbiologic samples are needed, if any infectious etiology is suspected. Blood tests are often helpful for diagnosis of systemic diseases. Les artikkel

Tillståndens troliga etiologi och bakomliggande mekanismer, prevalens, diagnostik och evidensbaserad behandling samt prognos belyses. För allmäntandläkare, som oftast är den förste vårdgivare som patienter med dessa besvär söker, är det viktigt att kunna identifiera och diagnostisera dessa tillstånd. Men det är också nödvändigt att tandläkaren har kunskap om vilka patienter som kan omhändertas inom allmäntandvården och vilka som bör remitteras till specialist för att minska risken att smärtan blir kronisk. Avsikten med denna översikt är att ge allmäntandläkare aktuell teoretisk kunskap i diagnostik av TMD och ansiktssmärta, inklusive de förenklade diagnostiska kriterierna för TMD (DC/TMD) som nyligen publicerats. En gjennomarbeidet behandlingsplan vil alltid være grunnlaget for et forutsigbart sluttresultat. Det vil oftest være flere alternativer til en behandling. Valget pasienten og tannlegen gjør i fellesskap, vil påvirkes av flere faktorer. Gjennomføringen av planen må ses på som en dynamisk prosess hvor justeringer må gjøres avhengig av pasient respons på behandling i innledende faser.Ofte vil det være et kompromiss som er akseptabelt for begge parter når økonomiske og prognostiske forhold legges til grunn. Kommentar og debatt Åpent brev til Den norske tannlegeforening Det er med stort vemod jeg nå ser meg nødt til å melde meg ut av NTF. Jeg har bak meg 36 år som medlem, av disse 25 år som tillitsvalgt i ulike verv både lokalt og sentralt, og jeg har lært og erfart mye i de ulike posisjonene jeg har innehatt. Dette gjør at jeg har ventet og tenkt nøye gjennom mitt medlemskap før jeg nå går til det skritt å melde meg ut. For å være medlem er det avgjørende for meg at jeg kan stille meg bak foreningens politikk og til dels være enig i den. Les artikkel

Kommentar og debatt Historikk og fremtidige muligheter Det er 16 år siden Stortinget ba regjeringen om å legge til rette for å opprette regionale odontologiske kompetansesentre. Formålet med sentrene var å styrke det fylkeskommunale ansvar for at befolkningen skulle få lik tilgang til spesialisttannhelsetjenester over hele landet. Samtidig ønsket en å satse på forskningsoppbygging og kunnskapsutvikling i tjenesten. Les artikkel
Kommentar og debatt Kommentar II Pasienten som utgjør materialet i denne kasuistikken, har behov for erstatning av tapt tann 14 (1). Jeg har i en kommentar stilt en del spørsmål relatert til enkelte aspekter ved artikkelen (2). I sitt svar later forfatterne til å overse at artikkelen som «bivirkning» reiser et viktig spørsmål: Valg av terapiform (3). Forfatterne anfører i sitt svar at «Denne pasienten vart tverrfagleg utreda og behandla på Spesialklinikken, UiB». To behandlingsalternativ fremheves: Implantatretinert single krone eller konvensjonell fast bro. De skriver videre: «Det var viktig for forfattarane å formidla at ei tannforankra bru ville vera eit betre alternativ«. Denne konklusjonen, at konvensjonell protetikk ville være en bedre behandling enn implantatprotetikk, må naturlig nok ha blitt trukket i forbindelse med den pre-operative tverrfaglige utredningen. Til tross for dette velges altså implantatbehandling. Implantatbehandlingen slår feil og det oppstår komplikasjoner i form av infeksjon og sekvestrering av ben. I stedet for å fjerne implantatet og gå over til fast protetikk, som altså i utgangspunktet ble ansett som den beste behandlingen, beholdes implantatet. Det transplanteres autogent ben høstet annet sted for å fylle defekten. Målsetning var, så vidt jeg forstår, å oppnå osseointegrasjon av de deler av implantatoverflaten der slik integrasjon initialt slo feil. Det er i hovedsak disse behandlingsvalgene jeg ber forfatterne begrunne i min kommentar. I det store og hele unnviker de å besvare spørsmålene. Tidendes lesere kan selv vurdere dette forholdet. Arbeidsliv og praksisdrift Hvordan skal de ulike pasientklager behandles? Alle har behov for tannlegens tjenester, og flertallet av de behandlinger som utføres medfører ingen problemer. God informasjon på forhånd kan gi pasienten realistiske forventninger om resultatet og forhindre klager i etterkant, og det er naturligvis viktig med god dialog der pasienten tar kontakt med tannlegen i etterkant fordi han ikke er fornøyd med behandlingen, slik at man kan prøve å finne en løsning. Tannleger er flinke til å håndtere slike henvendelser, og de fleste saker løser seg i minnelighet. Men hvordan skal saken håndteres der pasienten mener at noe har gått galt og man ikke kommer til enighet? Les artikkel
Snakk om etikk Når skal vi henvise til spesialist? Både nye og erfarne kolleger er innom problemstillinga: Er dette et kasus som er egnet for meg?
